E-mail marketing is a form of direct marketing which uses electronic mail as a means of communicating commercial or fund raising messages to an audience. In its broadest sense, every e-mail sent to a potential or current customer could be considered e-mail marketing.
However, the term is usually used to refer to:
• sending e-mails with the purpose of enhancing the relationship of a merchant with its current or previous customers and to encourage customer loyalty and repeat business,
• sending e-mails with the purpose of acquiring new customers or convincing current customers to purchase something immediately,
• adding advertisements to e-mails sent by other companies to their customers.

Stumble Upon is a social website which allows its users a new way to experience the Internet. Instead of searching for specific items on search engines like Google, Stumble Upon users only have to tag specific personal or professional interests and then ‘channel surf’ the web by simply clicking on a button on Stumble Upon tool bar.
Webmasters spend lots of time optimizing their sites for the search engines, submitting them to directories, and building incoming links. It’s a lot of work, but if done properly, the traffic will come.
Webmasters have realized the potential of StumbleUpon as a marketing tool and therefore have started to stumble each others sites to gain traffic and exposure for their sites.
