Digital Photography has become Incredibly Popular Now but Why?

Digital photography has become increasingly popular since it was first introduced back in the 1990’s. It has only grown more popular in time and many professional photographers and companies are now switching to digital photography and saying good bye to film models.

Starting with Kodak, companies such as Nikon and Canon are now focusing more on digital photography. Many companies now only focus on selling digital cameras and printing digital photos and this is no surprise because digital photography is so easy to use and to learn.

Twenty years ago, nobody knew anything about digital photography and was still loading rolls of film into their camera to be shot then developed at the local one-hour photo shop. Today, digital cameras are the hottest selling cameras on the market and some manufacturers are planning to get out of the film camera business altogether. There are a few reasons why digital photography has become such an important part of photography and why many people that practice professional photography embrace this new art today.

Many people choose digital photography over film photography because of the ability to take large numbers of photographs without wasting a lot of money on film. Digital cameras use small memory cards to save all of the photographs that are taken by a particular camera. Depending on the capacity of the memory card and the detail level of the photographs taken, hundreds of photographs can easily be stored on a single memory card.

When practicing digital photography, not all of the photographs taken have to be kept and developed to see what they are going to look like in print. All digital cameras have a viewing window that allows the photographer to see what the photograph looks like immediately after it has been taken and can be reviewed later on if the photographer chooses. If the image that was taken is not to the photographer’s liking, all they have to do is push a button to erase the image from the memory card.

It is very easy to edit photographs that have been taken with digital photography. Many of the people that practice digital photography have a computer with a memory card slot directly in the front of the computer or a docking station for the memory card that can be plugged into the computer so the photographs can be downloaded directly onto the computer. There are numerous computer programs that are available to help a person edit their digital photographs on their computer and many computers will already have a basic digital photography program loaded into the system.

There are many things that can be done with digital photography through a good photography computer program. The images in the photographs can be cleaned up, focused, and even altered slightly to create a photograph that is more in line with what the photographer was shooting for originally. The images obtained by digital photography can also be used for other computer programs, such as images for a blog, or emailed to friends and family members that may be interested in viewing the photographs that have been taken.

It will be interesting to see where the digital revolution is going next and whether it will stay as popular as it has become. I hope so, because anything that helps more people take photos and enjoy them better, is good for photography
