Step2: Create a new layer, using your marquee tool, create a square that will overlap your object. Once you have created your square, invert your selection (select>inverse). Fill the area with your desired border color.

After your border has been filled with the appropriate color, drage the border layer to below your picture layer

Step4: Select the layer mask and with the brush selected, begin to paint away the area of the mask that covers your object that you wish to extrude. This is a bit tricky, so take your time and get it right.

Step5: Now, create a new layer and move it to below the picture layer but above your border layer. Make sure that black is your foreground color. Using your brush tool (make sure you have a hard brush), start painting the area that is going to extrude. Basically, you’re creating a shadow. After you have vreated the shadow, apply a gaussian blur to the layer (filter>blur>gaussian blur)
