First we have to open a document, 400 x 400 pixel. Create a new layer and name it Background. Fill it with a dark color (#510000 used in this tutorial). Create an ellipse like below. Duplicate it and place it below. Next make a rectangle shape.

image002

Apply #f3b93f color to the top ellipse, to differentiate and name it candle top.

image003

Apply the gradient settings from the layer style blending options.

image004

Apply the Inner shadow settings from the layer style blending option.

Now lets give some designs to the body of the candle. From the custom shapes select a shape. Adjust the size and place it ontop of the candle body. Here I have used floral ornament 1, which comes as default. You can use any other designs as per your wish. You can even use some filters like fibre from the filter menu and apply overlay.

Shapes placed with black color applied on it.

image008

Select the layer and change the blending option to overlay, and opacity to 25%.

image009

Now go to the candle top, duplicate the layer and apply color # 8c6901. Scale it down like below. Align it to the bottom.

image010

Apply the bevel settings.

image011

The results will be as below.

image013

For the edges give a inner to show the light coming from the center.

image014

Next create a wick. The top part should be glowing red and the other to black. Make a long vertical rectangle and apply the gradient settings.

Now to make the flame we need to create a shape like below and place it below the wick. Apply the outer glow and gradients.

image018

Result will look like this.

Duplicate the flame layer and scale it down by 30% and apply the gradients.

Now to make the dripped /dripping wax let make a shape like this.

image022

Apply the following settings. Duplicate two more – make it little smaller, by adjusting the anchor points from the top.

image026

Adjust the shadows by changing the values. Add few more drops to show more natural dripping.

image028

Lets now create a leaf. From the Custom shapes ( as above) select leaf 5 shape. rasterize the layer and cut it in half. Now apply the following settings to get the result.

image032

Place it on top of the candle and apply the following settings to set with the source lights.

After placing the leaves and applying the gradient and drop shadow results will be like this.
