Meeting Clients, for the first time, convincing them with samples and finally getting the job is not at all an easy task for Designers or design company re-presenters. The most challenging situation for a start-up company is getting the Fist successful Client. The situation will change gradually after every successful project completion. It will be my pleasure to mention some important points here which I realized is important from my own experience.
It is very important to prepare yourself before every Meeting (Personal or Online or via Phone) with a Client. The preparation involves all- physical, mental as well as professional preparation. Making a good impression with your first look or during online discussion is the most important part. You must look and sound very professional. You must be anxious and begging the person to be your Client at any cost and ready to do anything for that, but don’t express your emotion and feelings in that way.
It is wise to research about your Client and their company, before discussion. It will help you to make the impression with important points, they may be interested in.
Prepare yourself with all possible queries from Client including- about your company information, pricing queries, Design process. Team detail and so on. Meeting a Client unprepared is the biggest mistake for a Designer.
Prepare a Perfect and full Portfolio to show them to the Client. Put every possible detail in the Portfolio. Have a Portfolio on Paper, or in a Laptop or Online. In spite of sitting silent, describe your Portfolio in an interesting way while Client is going through the Portfolio. Request your Clients to check all the details, Highlight your most beautiful works to him.
